Gangs: The Outsiders

Prior to viewing the documentary: Answer the following question using proper punctuation and grammar

1. Why do you think young people join gangs?
  • Consider the following:
    • poverty
    • identity
    • sense of belonging
    • forced into it

After viewing the documentary

1. Compare and contrast the life of gang members in the documentary to the life of the greasers (what you know so far). How are they the same? How are they different?

2. It's quite obvious that today's gangs are more dangerous compared to gangs in the 1960's. Why do you think this is happening?

3. How does it make you feel when you watched the documentary? What emotions do you feel towards the gang members? Are you disgusted or do you feel empathy for them? Be sure to support your opinions.

What is the G20?

The G20 is an informal group of 19 countries and the European Union, with representatives of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. The finance ministers and central bank governors began meeting in 1999, at the suggestion of the G7 finance ministers in response to the global financial crisis of 1997-99. Collectively, the G-20 economies account for more than 80 percent of the global gross national product (GNP),[ 80 percent of world trade and two-thirds of the world population.

Your project includes:
