GRADE 6, 7 and 8 JOHNSTON/CATTON SPRING CAMP
Each year, we try to do a year end trip that will be fun, and at the same time, challenging. This year, we have come to the consensus to do a canoe/bike trip at Candle Lake Provincial Park. Planning and implementing this trip is a lot of work and its success depends on a number of factors including:
- Obtaining written approval from enough parent/guardians to make it possible
- Getting parent volunteers to canoe, bike, drive and camp on the trip
- Raising enough money to pay for the trip
The whole trip will cost approximately $35-40/student (food not included)
The dates associated with the camp are as follows:
- Wednesday, May 2nd 10:30 – 12:00 : Canoe Safety/Rescues, Intro to Paddling Strokes, and Swim Evaluation at Harry Bailey Aquatic Center
- Friday, May 18th PM : Cycling & Canoe Practice #1
- Wednesday, May 23rd PM :Cycling & Canoe Practice #2,
- Wednesday, June 6th PM: Cycling & Canoe Practice #3
- Friday, June 15th PM :Cycling & Canoe Practice #4
*Location of canoe practices to be determined.
- Wednesday, June 20th to Friday, June 22nd: Year-end Camping Trip at Candle Lake Provincial Park
Volunteers are needed for all practice sessions and trip. We will also need parents who have access to a vehicle (preferably at truck) during the 4 practices and the year-end trip. Don’t miss the fun and the challenge! If you are able to volunteer please contact us at cattonc@spsd.sk.ca
