Students have spent a lot of time in the process of making commercials that use advertising strategies to persuade others and know it's time to analyze their finished product. Go to the Using Advertising to Persuade Others post and use the Analyzing Commercials worksheet to see what advertising strategies they used to persuade you, the consumer, to buy their product. When you think they have used one of the strategies, write down why you think so in the space provided; be sure to use specific examples.
After you have finished the Analyzing Commercials worksheet, I would like you to answer the following questions in the comment part of this post. Take a look at my post if you're confused (It's located under comments). Be sure to sign your name at the end so I know who has left comments. ANSWER QUESTION FOR BOTH COMMERCIALS.
1. What demographic (sex, age, economics) do you think each advertisement was targeted at?
2. Do you think the advertisement was successful in persuading its chosendemographic? Why? ( use specific examples)
3. Leave a compliment sandwich for each advertisment (something good, something to work on, something good)
Lady Gaga Commercial
ReplyDelete1. I think this commercial was meant to target the demographic of young women who were looking to purchase a sleek, new hovercraft. I think this because the celebrity the chose to use was Lady Gaga and she's really popular with that demographic. They also focused more on the image of the product rather than the product itself; a strategy which is quite common with advertisers focusing on young women.
2. I think the advertisement was successful because it was really flashy and hip. It made the audience feel like that if they own this hovercraft it will make them cool like Lady Gaga
3. I really like the dancing and the transitions used. I wonder who else would find this commecial appealing (not counting their demographic)? It was really well edited and looked very polished.
Andy Fantuz Commercial-
1. What demographic (sex, age, economics) do you think each advertisement was targeted at?
ReplyDeleteFor the Lady Gaga commercial on the hovercraft, it is targeted at teenagers and young female adults.
As for the Andy Fantuz commercial, it is targeted at young male adults who want to be like the sports stars.
2. Do you think the advertisement was successful in persuading its chosen demographic? Why? ( use specific examples)
For the Lady Gaga commercial, it is successful at persuading the demographic since it focuses on maintaining the integrity of the product image, only showing a little bit of the product itself.
For the Andy Fantuz commercial, I believe that the strategies feature much more of the product, but still are similar, such as the endorsement of a celebrity, but it shows the qualities and how it could go over any surface.
3. Leave a compliment sandwich for each advertisment (something good, something to work on, something good)
For the Lady Gaga commercial, I really have enjoyed the strategies that was employed in the commercial. However, one thing you need to work on is the flashing camera before the photos of Lady Gaga since it appears to cut off, and reappear, whilst a regular flash does not do that. However, I have enjoyed the commercial, for its strategies.
I really enjoyed the second commercial, for its similiar strategies. However, towards the end, you might want to eliminate one of the "Buy it now, supplies are limited"s since I heard it repeat twice. I loved that it even shown its qualities and show how it worked.
Very well done Odin. I agree with what you said, but I think the boys repeated themselves a lot since it was one of their strategies.

1. What demographic (sex, age, economics) do you think each advertisement was targeted at?
ReplyDelete- TBL Hovercrafts was more targeted at teenage girls or younger girls.
- The CTK 10 commercial was more targeted for teenage boys or younger.
2. Do you think the advertisement was successful in persuading its chosen demographic? Why? ( use specific examples)
- I think that the TBL Hovercraft was successful at persuading it's demographic because teenage girls and young girls like Lady Gaga and it was good for them to use her as a celebrity to target the audience. It was also good at making them think if they bought this hovercraft they would be popular just like Lady Gaga because they made it sound good.
- I think CTK 10 did a good job of representing itself to young or teenage boys because they used a football player and that’s something that boys like. They made this commercial sound good and also made it look good.
3. Leave a compliment sandwich for each advertisement (something good, something to work on, and something good)
- For the TBL hovercraft commercial I liked that they used good effects and editing to make it sound good. Something I dislike is that they didn’t show much of the product. I like how they used a celebrity to try and reel the girls into buying this hovercraft.
- For the CTK 10 hovercraft I like that they talked about the hovercraft and told important stuff to know. Something I dislike about this video is that they used too many buy it now's. I like that they did a news report.

for the Lady gaga comercial: I thought that how you had lady gaga singing the whole thing was good because it will get the attention of teen girls, but you should work on the presenting to more people then just like teen girls, But it was a really good comercial in general but in perticular I liked how you had an news reporter
for the CTK 10.5: I think it was really good and i really like how Andy Fantuz saved me from getting hit in the head by a football, but you need to work on the audio because you had bad noises, but i really liked how the cool people were running on the beach

I think that it was good at persuading its chosen demographic because they put a popular celebrity in their commercial which makes young girls want to be like Lady Gaga so they would buy it.
CTK 10 - I also Think that this commercial was a good success because they used life like settings by putting mats on the ground and making it look like water they also had someone pulling the hovercraft with a rope to make it look like it's going faster.
3. Leave a compliment sandwich for each advertisement (something good, something to work on, and something good)
-Lady Gaga (TBL Hovercrafts)
This was a fantastic commercial because they used lots of editing and when they put the flash for each picture that looked awesome.
They could have had more information about the Hovercraft and showed how it works. They used great stragties by doing all of the editing and a popular celebrity.
CTK 10- I liked how they used a famous football player. All of the words sounded great. They could of got rid of some buy it now. I also liked how they showed how the hovercraft actually works.
