Writers' Workshop-Expository Writing

This year we will be doing a lot of different kinds of writing ranging from narrative writing to expository writing.  While all are equally important, we will be spending a lot of time on expository writing.  Expository writing is a type of writing where the purpose of  is to inform, explain, describe, or define the author's subject to the reader in a well thought out and logical way.  We have done a little bit of expositry writing this year, and I suspect you have done some inthe past so this type of writing is nothing new to you.  This assignment will not have a lot of guidelines since I want to know what yo know about the writing process and expository writing.

Directions:
Pick one of the two prompts below and write at least three paragraphs to describe, explain, inform, define and support your point of view.

Prompt #1- Everyone has a favorite type of music. It may be rock, country, rap,
classical, or some other kind.  Before you begin to write, think about your favorite kind of music and why you like it.  Now explain in an essay why this one type of music has become your
favorite. Support your music choice with examples and details.

Prompt #2-Everyone has an activity they enjoy doing.  It might be an instrument or a sport.  Think about what you like doing the most and write a paper giving at least 3 reason why you like this activity so much.
Hints: Be sure to use the writing process  so your writing can be the best it can be.  We've used it a couple times this year (letter to Mr. Catton), but I'll give you a few links to help you out.

You are to write you at least 3 expository paragraphs on paper (all planning, rough copy, editing and good copy) so be sure to write as neatly as possible.  YOU WILL ONLY HAVE ABOUT 1 HOUR TO WRITE SO USE TIME EFFECTIVELY!
