Chapter 6 Abstract
* Johnny considers turning himself in for Bob's murder.
* Johnny asks Darry if his parents are worried about him. Darry says they aren't worried. Darry and Ponyboy try to comfort Johnny.
* Upon returning to the church, the boys realize that it is on fire and some kids are trapped inside.
* Ponyboy and Johnny rescue the kids from the burning church.
* A teacher named Jerry rides in the ambulance with Ponyboy, and Ponyboy tells Jerry about how he and Johnny are wanted for murder.
* Johnny is burned and badly injured and he and Ponyboy are taken to the hospital.
* Darry and Soda come to the hospital, and Ponyboy can see that Darry is crying. He realizes Darry truly does care for him.
